Adam's going to preschool

Hello, blogger world! I'm finally back. I'm not even going to waste time making excuses. Sooooo, here's little Adam on his first day of preschool. When Jacob was this age, I did Joy School with him and 5 other little boys in the neighborhood. The moms each took a turn teaching preschool for two days each week and then we'd move to the next house the next week. After last years failed attempt at doing playgroup with Adam, I knew Joy School would never fly. So I put him in a 3 year old class at the same preschool Jacob went to last year. I knew Adam would do better with the same teacher, same classroom, same rules and schedule every time he went to school than with rotating homes and teachers.

Adam was so happy to finally be going to school after Jacob had already been going for 2 weeks.

David always takes Adam to nursery because Adam still struggles having to leave me. So we decided to have David actually take Adam inside. I love this picture of him waving me good bye. He went to school just fine and had a great time. So the next time I took him and it was a crying, screaming, gripping my legs sort of adventure.

So of course, I started bribing him. He could earn prizes by going to school and hanging his backpack up without crying. We call him a school hero (ya know, like a superhero) when he goes to school without crying. Last week we didn't have a single "episode" and I'm so proud of him. At the end of last week his teacher told me that yes, Adam's a bit on the shy and quiet side but that he participates and is obedient and follows instructions. WAY TO GO ADAM! Here's Adam with some of his art projects from preschool.

Adam is happy at school and I am happy with it also. It's so important to do what's best for your child even if it means you don't get to teach Joy School with all your friends again. Every once in awhile when I see everyone's car in front of a friend's house picking up their kids from Joy School, I get sad that I'm not a part of that. But I know that this is what is best for Adam and he is doing great. I'm so proud of you, Adam!
