2 year olds and my mother

David wanted to try to take some pictures of the boys in their Sunday clothes seeing if maybe we'd update some of the pictures in the house. Jacob and Adam were very obedient and smiled which is a minor miracle.

Matthew, however, was not cooperating in the least.

Pretty much those six pictures sum up Matthew perfectly. He is an adorable little stinker with more personality than I can handle. I'm so grateful to be their mom. With Mothers Day coming up I've been thinking about being a mom and my mom. Mothers Day can be a disappointing holiday but a friend told me that her and her husband decided to celebrate their own mothers for Mothers Day and I have loved that perspective. Mothers Day isn't about me as a mother. It's about celebrating what a wonderful mother I have and being grateful that I get to be a mother to four crazy wonderful boys. Ever since I became a mother I probably ask myself 10 times a day how my mother had six children. And now I ask myself how my mother moved so many times. My parents moved at least a dozen times before we landed in Provo and stayed. This moving thing is currently harder than the parenting four children thing. In fact my mother is what is getting me through both the moving thing and the raising four children thing. My mom is my therapist, my pediatrican, my babysitter, my church calling consultant, my advice columnist, my stylist, my home designer, my gynecologist, my financial advisor, and you get the point. She didn't exactly ask to be any of those things nor gets compensated for it but she's just the first person I ask first. She's my mom and I'm so blessed that she is still taking my phone calls. If my children grow up to be successful adults half the honor will go to my mother and the other half to my children. Oh and David deserves some too but all my mothering skills came from just following my mom. I love you, mom! And THANK YOU for everything. I didn't appreciate you enough when I lived under your house but now having my own kids my gratitude is endless.

Ash, I love those pictures of Matthew. When Kamden had a crazy phase like that I posted them as a collage in his room. Embrace it girl because it's to darn cute!
