A few months ago I got a blog off of someone else's blog about good deals and from that blog I started reading all about couponing. I'm just a beginner at this new adventure but I've already had some great deals like the $28 worth of Pace salsa that I got for FREE! My favorite are Huggies diaper deals which I've got as cheaper as 5.00 for the jumbo packs at Walgreens. I've been trying to do Walgreen's register rewards and Easy Saver rebates (which they just discountinued) but I'm not loving it. Some times I get great deals but other times the prices are different than in the online ad and the item I want is always gone. So I'm not in love with Walgreens like a lot of people are. But I did get oreos this week for $1.50 and I love oreos!
Couponing takes a lot of time and preparing. So it's frustrating when I collect coupons online and pour over grocery ads etc and then can't find the stuff I want at the stores. But today I scored at Albertson's. Four transactions and lots of coupons later I walked out of Albertson's with $99.11 worth of merchandise that I paid $37.35 for ($3.80 of that was tax). That is 66% savings! Yipee! I won't tell you all of my deals but here are the best.
5 boxes of 14.5 oz Honey Bunches of Oates cereal for $.75 each
4 bottles of 14 oz Kraft BBQ sauce for $.20 each
2 boxes of 18 count tampons for $.51 each
3 Listerine pocket paks for $.81 each
So after that grocery run, I took a huge step and got a newpaper subscription so I can get the Sunday coupons. But hey even that was a great deal. See here.
I'm getting better at this coupon thing but it sure takes a lot of time. I'm excited because our next Home, Family, and Personal Enrichment meeting is on frugal living. I think our Enrichment leaders can read my brain because our last one was on using blogs to share the gospel and that gave me the final push I needed to start my blog and now there doing one of couponing. Crazy huh?
P.S. A funny Adam story (for those who find couponing a boring subject to blog about): I was nursing Matthew and Adam was playing by my feet. I told him to go get a Kleenex off of my nightstand and I would help him wipe his nose. He came back with no Kleenex but a clean nose. I told him what a big boy he was to wipe his nose with a tissue all by himself. He replied "Yeah mom, I just wiped my nose on your bed!" Gee thanks, Adam. Note to self: wash sheets!
